1-Warm-up, keeping kids interested
Watch Sensei teach the warm-up of an actual class of toddlers - explain knees and elbows, name the kicks,
switch legs. TIP: Keep them involved and moving! -
2-Warm-up, start of class
Learning names of body parts, but not staying on one topic for too long. Plus, putting the students "at attention" at the right time.
-
3-Keeping Control, telling the kids what you expect
Sensei shows front punch and back punch in this scenario. The kids are asked to name the punches and when one little tot can't stay in her place Sensei let's her know. TIP: Tell them what you expect and give them the opportunity to correct it.
-
4-Balance & Coordination,Noodles and knee kicks
Jumping over noodles with their feet together, knee kicks added in and then counting! TIP: When the kids make mistakes, let it go!
-
5-Focus & Control, fun kicks
Sensei has this little guy demonstrate his "jump kick" on a pad that she rigged up herself. No matter the kick, doing it a different way than usual is always fun. TIP: Use your creative side and put together your own "equipment" for toddlers.
-
6- Taking Turns, Group Kick and Punch Drills
The kids are given a set of instructions to follow while taking turns kicking. Then another pad is added for punches. TIP: Each time around add another technique! Their brains are amazing!
-
7-Focus & Self Control, attention and wiggle!
The group stands at attention and focuses on Sensei. Then they wiggle and go back to attention! With toddlers you have to switch up every few seconds, not minutes! TIP: If the tot who doesn't pay attention isn't affecting the rest of the class, ignore him!
-
8- Taking turns, Palm Strikes on balloon
Sense uses a Little Eagles® balloon for palm strikes. Kids are told to take turns and run to the back of the line. One little guy needed to get some energy out of his system! TIP: Stay calm when "bloopers" happen. Notice Sensei stayed in her place and reminded him of what she expected.

9-Taking Turns & Sharing, Punch The Minion
TIP: Use a stuffed version of a character from a movie or TV show the toddlers can relate to instead of the "big kids" pads.
